ABOUT COASTAL MOUNTAIN FUELS
Starting out on Vancouver Island with 28 employees and 12 trucks, Coastal Mountain Fuels was mainly a home heating oil supplier, with some marine and forestry contracts. The business soon grew to include more forestry contracts in Southern Vancouver Island locations and more industries such as marine and construction. In February of 2012, Coastal Mountain Fuels expanded to the mainland, incorporating another Petro-Canada™ bulk fuel distributor, doubling its size and service areas.
In October 2012, Port Hardy Marine was acquired from WC Fuels to service bulk marine deliveries. Currently, the company is still rapidly growing. With over 80 employees, 40 vehicles and servicing all areas of Vancouver Island and the lower mainland, we are proud to to be expanding our services. With our combined skills, experience and dedication to customer service, we are on our way to be the best in British Columbia.

Coastal Mountain Fuels is committed to protecting the environment through a range of sustainability initiatives. We actively support the marketing and promotion of environmentally friendly products such as Eco-Diesel and Petro-Canada Environ™ grades and take care of waste oil collection at our cardlocks.

Ryan Hale
President & Owner
Ryan relocated to British Columbia in 2017 to take over the Coastal Mountain Fuels operation and has been a member of the Petro-Canada™ team since 2008. Ryan is based out of the Langley office, but splits time between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Ryan, his wife and his three sons have all embraced their move out west and they’ve enjoyed getting to know the people, areas and industries of BC.
John McAuley
Corporate Controller
John brings over a decade of successful experience in accounting, administration, HR and operations to his role with Coastal Mountain Fuels. He was raised on Vancouver Island and currently lives with his family in Nanaimo. John has been with the CMF team since 2009, splitting his time between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland operations. John enjoys staying active, traveling, technology trends and motorcycling.
Darla Tolmie
Port Hardy Manager
Darla joined Coastal Mountain Fuels in 2005 and has been managing the Port Hardy operation since 2012. With her husband and two children, Darla’s family has immersed themselves within the community of Port Hardy. They love living on such a beautiful part of Vancouver Island. From hiking to skiing, camping and hockey, they enjoy everything the area has to offer.
Richard Parry
Development Manager
Richard Parry moved to Vancouver Island where he began his role with Coastal Mountain Fuels in 2017. He brings over 13 years of Petro-Canada™ experience, while also helping to facilitate consistant policy and process across CMF branches. Richard has enjoyed the move to Vancouver Island and discovering all that the West Coast has to offer.
Brad Mills
Operations Manager
Brad has been part of the Coastal Mountain Fuels team since 2014, bringing along his knowledge and experience from previous endeavors. Brad is dedicated to developing a positive rapport with customers and helping to create a fun work environment with colleagues. In his downtime, Brad values family activities on the lake and travelling. He also enjoys restoring cars and touring car shows in the summer months.
Darrell Clarkson
Sales Manager
Darrell Clarkson is based out of the Coastal Mountain Fuels’ Nanaimo office. In his role, Darrell coordinates sales for Vancouver Island and operations for mid to south of the island. Darrell has been in the fuel industry for over 25 years and began working with the CMF team in 2007. Darrel embraces the island lifestyle and outdoor recreation.
Isabelle Louise
Sales Manager
Isabelle is a seasoned sales professional with more than 20 years of experience in the fuel industry. She joined Coastal Mountain Fuels in 2018 and brings along a wealth of knowledge from past experiences. Isabelle is committed to creating positive and long-term experiences for customers. Outside of work, she values spending time with family, playing tennis and outdoor activities.
